› Main Street Latchkey
The LatchKey Program is for children in Kindergarten through sixth grade. It is open 6:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the school year. Children must reside in the Stroudsburg School District to participate so that they may use school transportation. In the morning, the children may use the computer lab, play games, visit with friends, draw, or complete homework. Latch Key staff take each child to their respective buses at the appropriate time. In the afternoon, the staff meet the children at the bus stop in front of the YMCA building and escort them to the Latch Key area. After they are offered a snack, the children may make choices of the following areas: gym, Computer Lab, Homework Room, Art Room, in-room games, puzzles and drawing. Once a week, the children may participate in a free swim time. Both morning and afternoon children have opportunities to participate in art, discovery and free choices, plus the staff will take the afternoon children to other lessons (i.e., swimming) if offered at the YMCA at the time the children are here. In all the groups, we encourage the children to try new things, and promote the YMCA's core values: honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. There are additional fees for SCHEDULED and UNSCHEDULED days off from school. See handbook for more information.
